Frequently Asked Questions
Is there room for other people to get into this business?
Yes! There is a very high demand at this time for these services and no decrease in sight for the next several years.
Do I need experience with construction?
No. The work you will need to do is mostly removing trash, cleaning, lawn/yard work and minor repairs.
Will I need a lot of money to get started?
No. You can get started with under $1500 in startup costs and most of the time it is much less than that. Some will depend on whether you have the necessary tools or equipment available but I'll show you how to begin as inexpensively as possible.
I already have a job. Will I still be able to do this?
Yes. A lot of trashout vendors only work part time and keep their current jobs, some only work on weekends. It's up to you how you want to do this but you have a lot of flexibility.
How much in the way of overhead expenses should I expect?
I've routinely been able to keep the cost of supplies and labor down to 25% of the income I make and I will teach you how you can do that too.
If I do this by myself, how much can I earn?
I can't tell you how much you will earn, I can only relate what I have seen in my experience. When I was doing trashout work alone, I was typically earning $300 to $500 a day.
Once I've learned what to do, how long will it take to get started?
You can usually start your own trashout business in as little as 2 weeks but I would say that in most cases it shouldn't take more than a month.
Aren't there permits and licenses I'll need? And aren't they expensive and hard to get?
What you'll need in the way of permits or licenses will depend on the requirements in your specific state, county or municipality as the requirements vary from area to area. It will commonly cost a couple hundred dollars for what you'll need. But I wlll go over which ones you do need and don't need and I'll also cover how to get the officials that issue these to be happy to work with you.
What about liability insurance? Isn't that costly?
You will need to get liability insurance to be able to do jobs for lenders and big banks, but I'll cover information on where to get it for the lowest possible price including the company that can help you with this. In most cases you can cover the entire year's premium with just one foreclosure cleaning order.
How will I know who to contact to get jobs?
That's a good question to ask. I've found that knowing who to contact is as important as knowing what to do. I will go over who handles 95% of the foreclosed homes, how to properly contact them and what to say so that they will want your company to do their trashout work.
When I start out won't it be obvious that I'm new at this? Won't that get in the way of getting jobs?
That could be a problem if you tried to do this on your own. It's important that you 'speak the language' and don't sound like a newbie. To help with this I've included information so that you will have eact scripting on exactly what you need to say and how to say it when working with master contractors so that you become the preferred trashout company in your area. I'll also help you with the best way to handle any objection that might come up about your lack of experience in this field.
What guarantee do I have that I will be successful if I try this?
